A spiritual site loved and visited by locals and worshippers for many years. Founded in 860 C.E., it is one of the oldest shrines in the whole Oita prefecture. Massive sacred trees sway branches and leaves, while turtles enjoy sunbathing and dry their shells on sunny days in their private pond. The beautiful vermilion structure provides a stunning contrast to the blue sky and gentle greens of the trees. It situates within walking distance from the Nishi-Oita station. Why not take a stroll around the shrine on a peaceful afternoon!
